How can we judge?

Emuna empowers us to hope and trust in G-d when beset with misfortune. Though we may lack understanding of why we suffer, pain is not ‘senseless’.  Emuna enables us to accept the pain and know intrinsically that somehow, in some way our pain is necessary for our spiritual repair and growth. This awareness and inner faith should help steer us away from assessing our difficulties and judging whether they are good or bad.

Infuse your thoughts with a teaching of Rebbe Nachman ztk’l -> Accepting suffering with love is like bringing a sacrifice.

Feeling Secure

We are instructed to serve G-d out of Emuna and Bitachon – clear knowledge that G-d is always with us and steadfast trust that helps us act on that security. Doubts are insidious and often interrupt emuna growth. They may arise out of uncertainty over G-d’s ability to help, or fear of something we believe is greater and more powerful than G-d.

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Gently press the indented area between top lip and nose while taking three deep breaths and say “I fully trust in G-d. I am never alone. He is always taking care of me.”

There is a reason

The Chofetz Chaim ztk’l teaches that we are brought down into this world for the sole purpose of rectifying the world through recognition and acceptance of G-d as the Creator. It is called a clarity of ’Oneness.’ Emuna enables us to dismiss all doubts about G-d’s existence and the fact that everything that happens to us is for a reason and is for our best.

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Give yourself an Emuna hug as you say out loud “I have emuna shleimah that all that G-d does is for the very best”

Shabbat is coming – Relax

All of our week should serve Shabbat. Shabbat should be an intimate meeting with G-d, without the distraction of material temptation. If we rearrange the letters of Shabbat, we can spell ‘teshev’ (return). Shabbat represents a return to the perfect state – a unity of spirit that replaces the fragmentation of the workweek.

Shabbat is a day where we sit ‘shev’. Whereas the six days are a state of ‘becoming’, Shabbat is a day of ‘being’. The idea of sitting relates to a state of rest – a break in the constant struggle to balance the spiritual and physical aspects of life.

When we experiences challenges – such as marriage problems, illness or problems with children – we need to remind ourselves of G-d’s loving Presence that remains with us always. It is vital to avoid blaming others or ourselves for these challenges, since this blame drags us back into Galut (exile). Though something may appear to be going wrong, we must have emuna that it is perfectly in sync with G-d’s Divine calculations. We are all traveling on a path to geula (redemption). Let’s allow the realization of the future gila (joy) we will all experience in geula fuel our current state of happiness now!

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Focus a few minutes on the idea that life is a process – an ever-changing road we travel on and at any given moment it can change B’H only for the better!

Geula is an unfolding of events leading to the revelation of the presence of Hashem. Geula is related to the word “giluy” which means revelation. The Malbim ztk’l teaches when the redemption arrives we will all be in a state of “gila” (happiness) – a place of renewed happiness that we have never experienced before. This joy will come as a result of discovering that Hashem has always been in our lives and that His love is everlasting.

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Spend a few moments thinking about a time when you discovered a new aspect to an incident or of a person that brought you a sense of joy.

As negative feelings arise the distance between G-d and us widens.  G-d is our shadow; as we respond to Him He in turn reacts back.  Hence, it is essential to be true with ourselves, talk with honesty to G-d and use the mode of communication called Tefillah as an opportunity to ‘clear the air’ and make peace with our Creator.

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Spend a few moments discussing one issue with G-d that causes you anguish. Begin the process of letting go.

There is a deep Kabbalistic teaching that distance causes G-d’s blessings to come down in the form of din (judgment) since we are not properly aligned with our Creator’s will and cannot receive His bountiful goodness in its correct form. One of the ways to align ‘our form’ with our ‘G-dly form’ is by internalizing the message that all that G-d does is for the very best.

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Repeat the following three times in a row, while taking three deep healing breaths and placing your right hand in the center of your chest and your left hand over your right:

“G-d’s love is eternal. He is taking care of all my needs day in and day out for my very best”

Living with discontent causes us to perform mitzvot with a heavy heart as though it is a great burden and sacrifice. The Torah teaches that G-d wants our heart, our emotional bond and intent. We cannot bury our true feelings of resentment since G-d knows our innards; all is known before Him.

Feel & heal exercise of the day

Aask yourself “Why am I not happy in life” ~ address only the first thing that comes to mind, otherwise, we might be here all day Take 3 deep breaths while repeating the following “G-d loves me. He is taking care of all my needs.”

As a result of inner anger and the disappointment we feel towards G-d we tend to fall into a state of sadness; we begin to study Torah and perform mitzvot with a lack of joy. The AriZal makes a strong statement regarding this broken state and teaches that happiness is the central point of Torah living.

Feel & heal exercise of the day: think of a recent incident that makes you angry. Put your right hand over your heart, your left hand over your right. Take 3 deep breaths while repeating the following “I am letting go of this anger. I make room for healing love”.
