One of the beautiful mitzvot hasheivat aveidah, the return of a lost object to its rightful owner also entails the return of oneself to oneself. It may take a lifetime to find out how precious we are and one of the clearest ways is through remembering where we came from.
The mystical teachers simplify the question of the soul’s origin through the following parable. Just as a rock carved from a mountain consists of the same elements of the mountain so too is our soul founded on complete G-dly perfection. Within each of us pulsates a piece of G-dliness literally infusing us with vital life force every moment.
Feel & Heal exercise:
Place your hand on your upper chest and feel each breath you breathe. You are receiving pulsating Divine energy with every inhale and exhale.
